have been married for 49 years, raised 4 wonderful sons and now enjoy 13

We enjoy
the freedom retirement gives us to travel and spend time with our family.

After graduating from Atherton, I attended Vanderbilt
University and received my B.A. degree in May 1960.
Three weeks later I
married Harry Rosenzweig, (Vanderbilt 59), and weve been married 46
years. We have 2 wonderful daughters, and our 3 grandchildren are the light of
our lives.
For the past 46 years, Houston has been home. By
1966, we had our 2 daughters, and I had an M.A.degree from the University of
Houston in Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology. Being dual certified,
Ive worked as both an SLP and a Clinical Audiologist. In the 70s, I
taught graduate students at the University of Texas Speech and Hearing
Institute, in Houston and later taught undergraduate and graduate students in
Speech Path and Audiology at the University of Houston. In the 80s, I was
a partner in a private practice in Speech Pathology. From 1980-82, I was
President of the Houston Association of Communication Disorders, a professional
organization composed primarily of SLPs.
In 1984, I was appointed by
the Governor of Texas, to the first State Board of Examiners of Speech
Pathology and Audiology. For the next 3 years, I participated in writing the
proposed rules for licensure of SLPs and Audiologists, practicing in the State
of Texas.
During the 90s, I worked in a variety of settings, with
preschool and school age populations. By 2000, I had worked part-time for 20
years at a large geriatric center, providing both speech and audiology
services.
Harry and I both retired by 2000, but continued to spend much
time caring for aging parents and a grandchild with special needs. We enjoy and
are regulars at the Houston Symphony and the Alley Theater. We love to travel
and are looking forward to doing a lot more of it in the immediate future.

After Atherton I graduated from Centre College and married my
husband Franck.
Eight years ago we moved to Big Canoe, a mountain
resort 1 hour north of Atlanta, after spending most of our married life in
Atlanta. We have 2 daughters and 4 grandchildren (luckily all in Atlanta. ) I
spent many years teaching Home Economics and for the past 20 years I have
operated my own business ( decorating with a specialty in window treatments. )
We enjoy spending time with friends and family, traveling and many activities
at Big Canoe. I also play violin with the Reinhardt College Symphony.
Many thanks, to all the people who have worked so hard organizing the
reunion. I look forward to seeing you there! Nancy Dixon Collier 2006 |

Upon graduation from AHS I began getting ready to enter
nursing school at Ky. Bapt. Hosp. (KBH) in August. I was very apprehensive
about it all, wondering if nursing was really for me, but to my delight I found
that I truly loved it and have continued to work as an RN on and off for the
past 40 years.
In July of my junior year at KBH, I met and fell in love
with Larry Armstrong, a senior at Speed School of Engineering and a Navel ROTC
cadet. The following year in August of 1959, I graduated from nursing school,
Larry was commissioned an officer in the United States Navy and we married on
August 21, all within a ten day period. We reported to Norfolk, Va. On August
28 for active duty and spent the next three years there.
In 1963 Larry
went off active duty and we move to St. Louis, MO where Larry worked for
McDonnell Aircraft and I worked for 9 different doctors who shared a clinic. In
1966 we moved to Huntsville, AL and we have made it our home ever since. Larry
took a position as electrical engineer supporting NASA on the Apollo Moon
Program working for GE and Sperry.
In 1968, after being married nearly 10 years and not having
children, we adopted our first baby, a daughter Amy at 3 months of age. I then
decided to be a full time stay at home mom and loved every minute of it. Four
years later we adopted our son, Mark, at 3 months of age.
In the
1970s and 80s Larry went into sales full time and took a sabbatical
from engineering, working for Cleveland Institute of Electronics. Our life
changed drastically. His office was our home and his hours were mainly evenings
and weekends, but it rewarded us with many wonderful trips and cruises (Larry
won for us) Europe, Hawaii, a cruise of the Aegean Sea and the Hawaiian
Islands. In 1988 Larry went back into engineering designing and testing
hardware for the International Space Station with Boeing.

After the children were grown and gone I returned to work
full time for about 10 years. Then we brought both our mothers to Huntsville to
live with us. I then became a full time caregiver for about 8 years. Larry
retired as of July 2005. Our daughter, Amy, and her husband have 3 children, 2
girls and a boy ages 12, 8, and 5 now live 3 blocks from us. Our son, Mark
resides in Louisville and works for Jabil Glogal Services refurbishing HP
laptop computers and loves it there. Life has been good to us and we feel so
blessed our cup runneth over. My passions in life are playing with my
grandchildren, playing bridge (we are in 2 monthly bridge clubs), fishing,
working in my garden, and helping at my church. I am looking forward to seeing
many old friends from long ago.
So much thanks and appreciation goes to
all who have worked and are still working on our 50th reunion. I salute
you.
