After Atherton, I attended Vanderbilt University and then
graduated from the University of Louisville in December 1959 with a degree in
Education. I married Beau Robertson December 26, 1959 and then taught in the
Jefferson County School System for three years until our daughter was born.
Beau and I moved to Richmond, VA, in 1972 with Bank of
Virginia. In 1977 he bought a printing company and it was at that time I went
to work for an OB-Gyn group where Ive done a bit of everything including
managing one of our offices.
I am now working part-time and enjoying
our four grandchildren, two of whom are here in Richmond and two in
Huntersville, NC. Our daughter in NC has two sons and our son in Richmond has a
son and a daughter. Do I need to tell you she is spoiled, as she is our only
granddaughter?
We love to spend several weeks on Maui in February where
we have a timeshare. I look forward to seeing everyone in June.

When you are only 39, its hard to believe it has been
50 years since we-all graduated from Atherton. After graduation, I was at the
University of Miami in Coral Gables, Florida for 2 ½ years. Left to get
my MRS degree. Moved to Jackson, Mississippi and had 4 wonderful children.
After 10 years, I got divorced. Started my Real Estate career in 1970.
Got married again in 1976, divorced in 1988. Moved to Destin, Florida, where I
live on the Gulf of Mexico. Waking up every day is like being in paradise. Yes,
we have a lot of hurricanes, but you learn to live with it. After 36 years in
the Real Estate business, I still love it all, most of all meeting wonderful
people and making them happy. You can visit me on my website

The bonus in my life; is my family, my children, and from
them, 6 precious grandchildren. Looking forward to seeing you-all at the
reunion.
Susie Karp Kirkland 2006
My given name is really Abby Victoria Kasdan. After high
school I went to Indiana University for 1-½ years, then transferred to
the University of Kentucky because of a boyfriend, that I later married. I
graduated from U of K in 1960 with a degree in Speech Therapy.
I
married the boyfriend. I worked in my field while he went to Medical School at
U of K. After that we moved to Ohio for his internship. We separated a few
months later. Had a son, Mark Gebrow, (now almost 43 years old).
|
 |
I moved back to Louisville with our son, found a job and
supported my son and myself. Then came Allen. I was fixed up on a blind date in
August 1965. We dated a year and married in September 1966. We are still
married. Allen was also married before with 2 children (boy/girl). My son Mark
lived with us and Allen and I had a daughter Stacie in 1969. Now we had (his,
hers, ours).
I worked on and off in my field after I got remarried.
Also worked part time in our own Pharmacy (husband is Pharmacist). After 13
years we closed the store and my husband worked for Kroger and presently,
Walgreen.
I now baby-sit our youngest grandchild (Stacies
daughter) once a week; play bridge one or two times a week; go to Louisville
Orchestra Coffee Concerts. Ive gone for about 25 years, movies, plays,
and etc. Allen is mostly retired. We have 6 grandchildren, his, ours, and
others by our childrens marriages to spouses with other children
William Keister (Bill) On leaving Atherton I started studying
something besides music, and majored in Chemical Engineering at the University
of Louisville. After a Fulbright year in Germany at the University in Freiburg
im Breisgau, I returned to the University of Wisconsin in Madison for advanced
degrees, also in Chemical Engineering.
In Madison I met my wife, Martha. We were
married in 1965. I took my first real job in Norway, at the research labs of
Norsk Hydro in Porsgrunn. Our two children, Thomas and Susanna, were born in
Porsgrunn. We stayed there for 7 years.
When we moved back to the
states we tried to find a place where we could keep up cross-country skiing
landed just north of New York City, in Ossining. The jobs were good, the
skiing not so. Martha became a law librarian, and I migrated from research into
engineering computing. Finally, in 1992, we moved to the Denver area, where the
skiing is pretty good. Martha continued as a law librarian and I worked in
Chemical Process Simulation.
Weve been in the process of retiring
for the last three or so years. I kept up musical activities for a long time -
mostly clarinet, but also piano. Some of the most challenging and rewarding
years were as clarinet with the Symphony in Norwalk, Connecticut. Now,
retirement is supposed to give me more opportunity to get back to music, but
that hasnt happened yet |

Ben Kennedy went to Georgetown College after AHS where he
studied French and History, made his first of many visits to Paris in 1957 with
Glen Johnson and other Louisvillians. After his B.A., Ben received an M.A. from
UNC-Chapel Hill in 1962 and PhD. from Univ. of Georgia in 1966, with a
specialization in French history. He took a position at West Georgia College in
Carrollton (now the University of West Georgia) and taught there for 38 years
til retirement in 1999. Did some post-doctoral study at Duke, Johns Hopkins,
and Univ. of Iowa.

Married Claudia in 1995 and melded our families together. We
have five children: Sarah, Tommy and Jeff (mine) and Annamaria and John (hers)
and 13 grandchildren ranging in age from one to 21. All of them live here in
Georgia and come to visit us at our home in the mountains near the N.C. line.
Ben has done some traveling: France 9 times (research
usually), Spain, Israel, Mexico, Central America, Austria, Germany, Ireland.
Claudia and I have visited Ireland often, went on our honeymoon there. Ben
plays high handicap golf, likes to hike in nearby mountains, has covered about
900 miles of the Appalachian Trail in the last 20 years. Still teach part-time
at nearby Young Harris College and we are active in the local Episcopal Church.
We live in a beautiful mountain valley on a dead-end road in a remodeled farm
house. In summer with windows open we can hear the creek burbling down below
our deck.

My adult life has been wonderful. One paragraph will be an
effort: Married one year after graduation from AHS. Took several business
classes during that year, and used some of those skills working for a Colonel
and General in headquarters at Fort Polk where my husband, Raymond, was a
Captain in the Dental Corps.
Upon returning to Louisville, Raymond set
up his dental practice, and we began our family. Kim was born in 1961, and
Steve in 1964. Kim has been married for 20 years and is the mother of our 2
grand daughters, and has lived just 7 doors from us for almost 20 years. Her
oldest, Jennifer, is a freshman at Georgia Tech in their architecture school.
The youngest, Emily, is a sophomore at Ballard High School. Steve has never
married, but lives and works here in Louisville.
I have owned a knitting and needlepoint store,
Carma, for almost 31 years.
Raymond and I love to travel and have seen
every state but 4 in these wonderful United Stated. We have been fortunate to
see almost all of Canada, most Caribbean islands, and a good deal of Central
and South America. Have also seen all of Europe, all of Israel and spent almost
2 weeks in Egypt. Now our health keeps us from doing a lot of traveling (we're
more selective), but we do some.
We still both work almost every day.
Hope you all make it to the 50th reunion. Can't wait to see you.

Between 1959 and 1968, I gave birth to my four children.
One year prior to the birth of my fourth child, 1967, I received my BS in
chemistry. In 1974 I received a MA in counseling. For eleven years, I was a
social worker and did family counseling.
In 1985 I returned to Memphis

been a professional artist.
I have been blessed with a wonderful life;
a terrific husband, four wonderful children married to great spouses; twelve
magnificent grandchildren. Throughout my life I have been a community

Graduated from North Central College, Naperville, Il in 1960
with a major in sociology. Worked ten years full time for the YMCA in Chicago
and St. Louis, then taught pre-school gym and swim classes and adult aerobics.
Later, I worked for Deloitte & Touche, doing the administration at a large
audit client in Chicago from September to May while I taught swimming at home
during the summer.
Married Timothy in 1964, no children but lots of
dogs over the years.
We have had some adventurous vacations, like three Outward
Bound experiences and summer trips to Steamboat Springs, CO, as well as
nature-oriented trips to Mexico and Central America. French has been my passion
and I have been to France probably 20 times, poking around a different small
section of the country each time.
My other love is gardening. Besides
gardening at home, I volunteer at the Chicago Botanic Garden and the Naples
Botanical Garden. I also spend lots of time at the health club taking a variety
of classes.
Have not been in Louisville much since graduating from
Atherton except to visit my parents, who are both now deceased |

. Unfortunately, previous plans for a trip mean that I will
not be able to attend the 50th. I wish it were not so! Have fun renewing old
friendships. Betty Kirchdorfer Plum

After graduating from Atherton, I attended the Wharton School
of Finance and Commerce of the University of Pennsylvania, where I majored in
Accounting. After graduating in 1960, I returned to Louisville where I was
employed by Yeager, Ford and Warren, CPAs, which became part of Coopers &
Lybrand, which is today part of Price Waterhouse-Coopers (shows the
consolidation in this field!) where I passed all parts of the November, 1962
CPA examination the first time, and received an award for attaining the highest
grades in the Commonwealth of Kentucky. For such, I was listed in Who's Who in
the South and South-East.
| In June, 1963 I became controller of Tri-City Industrial
Services, Inc. and later Industrial Services of America, Inc. a
mini-conglomerate dealing in solid waste disposal equipment and services, scrap
metals, and fork lifts. I was in the Kentucky Air National Guard for 3 years as
a week-end warrior. I took two courses in the U of L Law School at night and in
the fall of 1968; I took a year leave of absence from my job to travel around
the world. |

After Europe, I got as far as Israel, where I decided to stay
and learn Hebrew. I met my wife of 37 years, Irit, a sabra, and decided to give
Israel a try. I closely identified with Israel, as the home of the Jewish
people, and becoming a part of the Zionist enterprise after 2000 years in the
Diaspora gave purposeful meaning to my life, a feeling of being a participant
rather than just a spectator in this world of ours.
Initially I worked
as Treasurer of the Israel Program for Scientific Translations and later Keter
Publishing, Ltd., which publishes the Encyclopedia Judaica and other books.
During this time I passed the Israeli CPA Exam and went to work for the
Investment Authority of the Israeli Ministry of Finance as a liaison officer
encouraging foreign investment in Israel and edited the Israel Investors'
Manual a compilation of the various benefits, laws and regulations designed to
encourage foreign investors. During this period, I was a member of the
Jerusalem Rotary Club.
In 1974, I was drafted into the Israeli army
where after basic training; I spent a month in Sinai and the Gaza Strip. I was
then assigned to the Infantry patrolling the Negev border with Jordan and
before my discharge, the Town Major's office in Jerusalem.
Irit
graduated from Hebrew University Law School in 1968 and retired a year ago as
Director of the Department of International Affairs of the Israeli Ministry of
Justice. As the co-coordinator for the defense of Prime Minister Sharon in
Belgium in 2002-2003, she became known and today lectures and teaches the
subjects of Universal Jurisdiction and Extradition. She volunteers as the
Vice-President of the International Association of Jewish Lawyers and Jurists.

Adorable granddaughter |
We have three lovely children; Yael (35) married to Ronen and
their daughter Einav (2), Dani (32), and Maya (23). All are Israelis born here,
but they also have US citizenship as well.
In 1978, after gradually
working outside the Investment Authority preparing US tax returns, I started my
own Accounting practice dealing with US-Israeli taxation and audits. Until a
year ago, we lived in Jerusalem, where I still have an office and have started
accepting a limited number of clients in Tel-Aviv, mainly dealing with
off-shore structures, as I am Treasurer of the Israeli branch of STEP-Society
of Trust and Estate Practitioners, an 11,000 world-wide member organization
based in London. You might say that I am semi-retired, but I seem to be busy
constantly.
While my parents were alive in Louisville, we visited quite
often and have enjoyed many trips to Europe, as well as the Far East, Australia
and New Zealand. We hope to visit Russia this year and my nephew's wedding in
CA in October, after Mexico.
Irit and I extend a hearty welcome to all
visitors to Israel and we would love to have you visit us in our new apartment
on Rothschild Boulevard in the heart of Tel-Aviv.
