at the Greater Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky Airport for 33 years before
retiring in 1994.
My wife, Sue and I have been married almost 48 years.

After Sue retired from
teaching, we bought a second home in the Naples, Florida area, which we have
enjoyed for six winters.

Forrest
Land Louisville, Ky |
Fifty years ago seems like yesterday. Attended U of L, hated
math and all these years have been proficient and handled millions of dollars.
Became a Realtor 48 years ago and have sold anything from a shack to a golf
course. Became an Auctioneer and helped found the auction when Junior
Achievement had the Festival of Christmas Trees. I am still licensed in Real
Estate and Auctioning.
I became involved with Churchill Downs,
Louisville Downs, and Keeneland in 1966, and still am involved in the Mutuels.
Served as President of the SEIU Union, the Race Track Union of
Kentucky. Have hired employees for Pimlico, Aquaduct, and Hollywood
Park.
In 1960 I married Patricia Weinman, a fellow choir member, and we
have 2 children, Forrest E. and Alison Marie. They both graduated from U of L,
Forrest is a teacher and artist, Alison is a housewife and mother of 3 great
children.
Pat and I love to travel and recently have been to Mexico and
Alaska. My hobbies are collecting music boxes (over 1300) and restoring older
homes, including the one we live in. Its a wonderful life and time passes
too quickly.

By 1960, I was awarded by U of K a BS degree in business and
letters in intercollegiate swimming and cross country/track. After working
as a salesman for Colgate Palmolive Co. and for the U.S. Army Reserve, I
married, and returned to Louisville to work for my father's small commercial
construction company.
After he was diagnosed with terminal cancer I entered law
school in January 1965. Achieving my JD degree from U of K in 1967, I joined the
large Cincinnati general commercial law firm of Taft, Stettinius &
Hollister LLP to practice labor and employment law under the mentorship of J.
Mack Swigert who had helped Senator Robert A. Taft draft and pass the
Taft-Hartley Act of 1947. During my 37 year practice, from which I retired in
2005, I represented large and small employers throughout the United States in
connection with counseling, union avoidance, labor union negotiations and
strikes, arbitrations, NLRB hearings, proceedings before the EEOC, OSHA and
other administrative agencies charged with enforcing employee protective
statutes; and in trials and appeals in state and federal courts, including
arguing two cases before the Supreme Court of the United States and before six
of the13 circuits of the Court of Appeals.
Others recognized my work by
including me in Ohios Super Lawyers, Woodward/Whites, The Best
Lawyers in America, and Chambers USA, Americas Leading Business
Lawyers.
In 2000, I was privileged to present a series of lectures
throughout the United Kingdom to representatives of
employers, unions and government regulators to assist them
to understand the UK’s newly enacted comprehensive labor law
patterned in significant parts after the Taft-Hartley Act.
On two or three occasions I jointly represented clients with
our classmate, and fine labor lawyer, Kenny Handmaker.

I married my U of K sweetheart, Gail Peterson, and together
we have three productive and happy children and five grandchildren. Gail and I
have and will continue to be active volunteers in our community, golfers,
travelers, and boaters (we have cruised much of the Great Lakes and midwestern
water ways and have completed about one-third of the Great Circle). I am
presently using my legal and construction knowledge to assist one of our
daughters and her husband to relocate and set up a new construction company on
the Mississippi Gulf Coast to assist in rebuilding his home area devastated by
Katrina. I look forward to reading on the Atherton web site additional
write-ups about the interesting lives of my classmates and visiting with you at
our 50th Reunion..

Jean Liskey
Crump Richmond, Ky |
After graduating from Speed School, I remained in Louisville
and worked for Corhart Refractories, Tube Turns and American Air
Filter.
In 1985 when it became apparent that my mother could no longer
live alone, I decided to retire and move her in with me. This allowed me to
indulge myself in my favorite hobbies, reading and gardening. After the death
of my mother in 1994, some of my younger neighbors adopted me and
since then I have been actively engaged in a social life on my street that
seems like one big party. |
 |
Married and divorced with one, perhaps over-educated,
daughter and one virtually perfect 16-year-old granddaughter currently
attending the Brown School in Louisville. Of course, like all grandparents,
Im naturally not prejudiced in any way.
I helped organize a
reunion of our football team in 1990, which was well attended and quite
rewarding as it allowed us to renew old friendships forged in the dust and
August heat on the practice field in Cherokee Park. One thing I found
fascinating at the football reunion is how each person had specific memories of
many different events, when the people directly involved in them, had no memory
of them at all.
