O
After graduation, I attended both the University's of
Kentucky and Louisville before going into the work force. I held several jobs
before I took a job as an Apprentice Optician in 1960. In 1962, I passed the
Kentucky state licensing board test, becoming a Licensed Dispensing Optician.
In 1963, while vacationing in Cincinnati, I meet my future wife Cookie,
on a blind date. Ten months later we were married and starting married life,
not knowing that nine months later we would be blessed with a daughter. To make
life even more interesting, I received a job offer in Cincinnati and we made
the move. We had our second child , a boy, and settled in our life routine.
I worked several jobs in the optical field and even though I
tried several times to change fields, I am still an Licensed Dispensing
Optician. I became active in the Ohio Opticians Association, Cincinnati
division serving several terms as President and 30 years on the Board of
Directors. During this time I also spent 10 years as an at-large Trustee of the
Ohio Opticians Association.
As long as my health holds, I will probably
work a couple more years before retiring. After that who knows what the futurer
holds. I an looking forward to renewing old acquantinces and making many new
ones.

McGurk Lexington, Ky |
Good years and friends at AHS followed by two great years at
Transylvania University. I majored in secondary education and was member of Chi
Omega Sorority. Here I met my husband Jim McGurk, Business Major and Kappa
Alpha from Lawrenceburg, KY. We were married June 28, 1958 and I attended
University of Louisville Dental Hygiene.
Jim joined the S.S. Kressge now the Kmart Corporation and we
began his 50 year career in management touring Ohio, Michigan and Kentucky. I
was a dental assistant for several years and then returned to education in a
Cleveland College doing substitute teaching. During this time we were blessed
with two wonderful sons, Steven and William. Steve is in Wal Mart management in
Cincinnati OH with his wife and three sons. Bill is an Insurance Claims Manager
in Lexington with his wife and two sons.
Jim has retired following a
heart attack and open heart surgery. We enjoy living in Lexington helping care
for our five grandsons. A big part of my life has been enjoyed with my younger
sister Joan and her husband and two sons. She teaches Kindergarten in
Louisville for JCPS. Its amazing how fast Fifty years can pass when you
are having a blessed life with family fun

I will begin after graduation in 1956. I entered the
University of Louisville in the fall of 1956 in A.& S. In 1957 I decided to
attend U. of L. Dental Hygiene Program, which proved to be a very good decision.
I married Hugh Green in the fall of 1958. Michael David was born on May
27,1959. Philip Stanton was born on June 14,1960. Paul Stewart was born on
August 15, 1963.
| Hugh and I separated in Jan. 1964 and the divorce was final
Feb. 1965. I reentered U. of L. Dental Hygiene in the spring of 1965 and
graduated in June, 1966 and subsequently moved my family to Orlando, Florida
where I lived and worked until 1985. By that time Michael had graduated form
U.C.F. and was accepted to Univ. of Florida's Law School. Philip was settled in
a job and an apartment in Winter Park, FL. and Paul had graduated from Univ. of
Florida and started a job in Tampa, Fl., so I decided to move to Merritt
Island, Fl. where I still reside and work(now three days a week.
In six weeks Michael had dropped out of Law School and moved
in with me and Philip decided to move in with me temporarily-which was fine
with me. Michael married in Dec. 1990 and has given me my three beautiful
grandchildren. Samuel is ten years old and Grace is seven and Hannah is four.
They live in Winter Park, Fl. Philip lives and works in Cocoa Beach, Fl. Paul
was killed in an auto accident in Baton Rouge. La. where he was attending
graduate school on Dec. 5,1994. My heart is still trying to mend. |

I
love people so I am glad I am still able to work BUT not five days a week I am
having luck growing some orchids (so there is hope for all the black thumbs). I
have two dogs and two cats. I seem to attract the homeless ones. I have
recently started horseback riding again and am negotiating the purchase of a
beautiful five-year-old mare. So there you have it in a nutshell. DODIE OSBORNE
