I graduated from Vanderbilt University and married John
Settle Johnson in 1960. His medical career took us to Rochester, New York where
our two daughters, Margaret and Frances , were born. We went to the National
Institutes of Health in Bethesday, Maryland and later to La Jolla, California
and returned to Nashville thirty-one years ago. In 1980 I received a Masters
Degree in Human Development Counseling, was a psychological counselor for
thirteen years and retired after my first grandchild was born. I have six
grandchildren who, with their parents, live within ten minutes of us. Reading,
walking, swimming and traveling give me great pleasure.

Update 2009:
2006: After graduation from AHS, I went to Georgetown College for 4
years majoring in Art, Kappa Alpha and fun. One day in chapel I met my future
wife, Doris Ramey, who laughed at my jokes and thought I was cute. After
graduation, we went to Southern Seminary where I earned a MRE degree. Atlanta
Georgia was next. I was at Buckhead Baptist Church as Minister of Religious
Education and then Park Avenue Baptist Church where I was Minister of Religious
Education and Associate Pastor. Then, back to Louisville for another degree at
Southern Seminary, MDiv and the beginning of my pastoral ministry. I pastored
churches at Hempridge in Shelby Co, Covington, Valley Station, Bardstown, and
Middletown. I retired in 2000 from Pleasant Grove Baptist in Middletown after
15 years. I was retired for about 6 months when I was asked to come back to
Hempridge my original pastorate in 1970-71 as interim. They subsequently asked
me to continue as pastor. The circle was complete. I have been there for 6
years.
When I was in high school I sang with the Motet singers. This
ended with college although I always said when I retired I wanted to get back
into the group. The circle again was completed this fall when I rejoined the
Motet. I also sing with a group of retired people called Joyous Singers. We
perform for nursing homes, women's clubs and church groups, basically anyone
who will listen.
My family consists of Eric, age 43 who is married with
3 girls and 1 granddaughter (that makes me a great-grandfather); Brett, married
with age 40 who has 3 boys and 1 girl; Justin, age 33 married with 1 girl. They
live in Cleveland, Jeffersonville and Atlanta so we have lots of places to
visit. I have one grandson who serves with the 82nd airborne and served a term
in Iraq. We are proud of him and glad he is home safely.
My wife and I are now beginning to travel and enjoy our home
and yard. My hobby has always been painting and I am now entering paintings in
the state fair, doing portraits on commission, and wall paintings. I also play
basketball two times a week and am known as "Larry the Legend" for hanging in
there for so long. LP 2006

Louisville 1961: majors: chemistry, biology and French, Minor: geology M.A.
Indiana University (Bloomington) 1968: Russian (National Defense Scholarship)
 |
I have taught chemistry and Russian in the public high school
and various colleges. I have done scientific and industrial translations from
Russian to English from texts and with Russian representatives as a consultant.
I have been happily married to Vera Gaar for 32 years. I have three
sons: The oldest is an Architect in San Francisco, he has twins a boy and girl.
My middle son is an executive chef in Louisville, he has two daughters; and
third son is an investment banker in Louisville. |
I have traveled to Russia to complete my Masters at the
University of Pyatagorsk and I have, also, conducted a student tour of Russia.
My hobbies include backpacking and finding and collecting fossils and
gemstones. I also enjoy canoeing (which I am presently neglecting). My
retirement activities seem to present me with less spare time than when I was
working. I still haven't figured out this dilemma!
| 50 years! That's a lot of time to condense into a few
sentences. Bachelor of Music Ed '60 from Indiana University; started teaching
career, mostly middle school general and choral music in Mt. Clemens, MI; the
University School at Indiana University; Master of Music at UMich; taught in
Oakland County, Mi,; including the prestegious Detroit Country Day School. I am
in my 3rd year of glorious retirement. Have been a full-time musician for more
of the time. Am in my 29th year as Director of Music at a Congregational Church
in Bloomfield Hills, MI; accompanist for two professional chorale groups - and
performing with area traditional (New Orleans) jazz bands. Married/divorced/two
step-grandkids living in southern Ohio - so trips to Louisville will usually
include a stop off there. Still get to go 'home' to Walterdale Terrace - where
my brother Alvin (AHS '62 or '63) and family lives. Life is good! Kerry Price

| For me a "bio" has to be all about family. Jack and I moved
to Middletown, Ohio after he graduated from Purdue University. It is a sleepy
little town half way between Cincinnati and Dayton, Ohio. Middletown sounds
like the boondocks, but it is a wonderful place to raise a family. The
closeness of small town friends, the advantages of "city life" less than 30
minutes away and it is in the heart of an historic area full of antique shopes
and the historic Golden Lamb Hotel. We had two daughters; Cathy arriving in 1963 and Lee arriving
in 1967 and that led to Girl Scout Troops, horses, and hours of chauffeuring,
sailing and camping. In general just having a wonderful time.
When they
left for college, Jack talked me into (made me) go to a week long
golf school with
him in Florida. There is not an athletic bone in my body so I pleaded with him
not to do this. But he just grinned and said it would be fun! It was and am I
hooked. |
Terrie with Molly Mitchell at the reunion 2006 |
Jack retired and we returned to Louisville in 1994 to help our
parents in their declining years. Mom is 92 and doing wonderfully. She plays
the piano daily and is still writing good music - the kind you don't hear much
anymore. Dad passed away in 2000.
Every year we all hold the last week
in April open for a week together in Orlando. Four generations, Mom, Jack &
myself, our daughters & sons-in-law, and seven grandchildren. We range in
age from 6 to 92. What fun memories this week always provides. And memories of
high school are flooding back as this reunion approaches. I can't wait to see
you all.
After graduation from Atherton I went to work for Employers
Group Insurance Companies in the claim department doing clerical work. I worked
my way up to become an inside claims adjuster. In late 1959 I met a great guy.
One year later we were married in a beautiful church wedding in front of about
250 guests. I continued to work two more years until I was about to deliver my
1st son. By this time my husband's career was going well. He was a Development
Engineer for TRW and NCR. He did a lot of traveling across the United States. I
was fortunate to be able to stay at home with my son and travel with my husband
at times.
Seven years later my 2nd son was born. The joy of my life has
been being a stay at home mom. Our home was a place where our boy's friends
would come and stay for hours. Both boys tell the story of how they lived the
life of "Leave It to Beaver." The oldest has an Associate of Applied Sciences
from U of L, a BS in Electrical Engineering Technology from Western Kentucky
University and a Masters in Business Administration from Bellarmine.
University. His wife has a BS in Nursing from U of L and has been an ICU nurse
for 20 years. The youngest has a BS in Chemistry, a BS in Management and a BS
in Accounting. His wife has a BS in Computer Information Systems.
Life was great until 1997 when I was diagnosed with chronic
renal failure. By October of 1997 I was put on dialysis and was on dialysis for
23 months. I was blessed to receive a kidney transplant on Sept. 8. 1999. About
a year and a half after my transplant I was hospitalized with Cytomegalovirus;
which is a virus that attacks people with a weakened immune system. It nearly
took my life. I live a strict lifestyle of taking my medications on time and
staying away from large crowds and anyone who is sick. My husband retired in
2000 after 35 years with NCR to be at home with me. I had a heart attack in
2003, which was taken care of with angioplasty and stents.
We have a grandson, 21 who is a student at U of L and a
granddaughter 12, a student at Whitfield Academy. My grandson is getting
married the same weekend of the reunion. I am looking forward to this wedding
and maybe some great grandchildren in the distant future. I have been very,
very happy and content living a full life as Mrs.William Crawley, wife, mom,
and grandmother. We celebrated our 45th anniversary October 29, 2005. Life is
still wonderful. I won't be able to attend the reunion because of the wedding,
but I would love to have one of the yearbooks if possible. Rosemary Priddy
