Tambopata Jacamar’s Bird Club

The Tambopata Jacamar’s Bird Club, TJBC, was formed on 10 of September 2006 in the town of Puerto Maldonado. There has never been a bird club here, and the club is something that should very much benefit the area and bird watchers around the world. Once we better establish a strong team of bird watchers, approx. 10, we can reach out to train incoming birders who have little to no experience or equipment. We are in the process of both looking for a few more leaders and creating the strongest routes that will provide the best bird watching. TJBC doesn’t want to exclude anyone based on experience and we are interested in helping people better enjoy the beautiful birds in the area. Bringing people together is important to us.

At this point we will meet at least once a month for planning. And go out once a month for bird watching. We recognize and are making our best effort in creating reports and collecting data. Any support and training would be very helpful to the club and it’s members. We are creating trip reports including bird checklists, who was there, and weather conditions. We plan to keep good data supported by science so that we can analyze our findings to try and understand what is going on here. We’ll share all the sightings and send reports to advisors and members.

We have just received two beautiful good binoculars and straps donated so generously from Birders’ Exchange, American Birding Association. Those tools will be used by some of the current members who are helping to establish our Club.

We are very lucky to have the following keen bird watchers as our advisors: Renzo Zepillii, (Manu Wild life). Emmalee Tarry, (Nashua. NH USA). Robert Oley, (Bronx zoo).

 Sincerely
