A Field Guide of the Birds of Peru
James F. Clements and Noam Shany
Ibis Publishing Company; Temecula, CA (Now out of business)
English with Spanish names for
birds. Beautiful plates by Dana Gardner and Eustace Burns are
all in one section. Abbreviated text includes description
of range. No range maps.
Quick Index¹
This
book is out of print. It is still valuable to the birders
of Peru because the plates are all in one section and they can
remove the plates for field work. Also the spanish names of the
birds are given. The eager Peruvian birders need field
guides. If you are willing to donate your copy please
contact the webmaster.
Of course they would also appreciate
copies of the newer field guide. See Working with Birders
Exchange.

How to use a quick index
Display the quick
index on your screen. Print it. Trim edges. Paste on back
cover of the field guide or inside the cover.
To quickly find
the plates that contain, for example the Macaws, refer to the
alphabetical quick index to see that the Macaws start on page 166.
Now do an exhaustive search to find the particular species for which
you are looking.
There are many
groups of birds that start with Ant; Antwrens, Antpittas, Antbirds.
These birds are listed as Ant *.
