Mike Gooley

Mike Gooley

Mike Gooley grew up in Athol, Massachusetts and got his start birding with the Athol Bird and Nature Club in the mid-1970'sHe went on his first whale-watch in 1980 and has been going offshore ever since to pursue his passion for pelagic natural history. Over the years he has logged hundreds of days at sea on trips that have taken him all over the Gulf of Maine, up north to the Gulf of St. Lawrence, and south to the Gulf Stream off Cape Hatteras.

Mike holds a B.S. degree in Biology from Worcester State College and earns a living as a Grants Administrator in the Chemistry Department at Boston University. He also serves on the Board of Directors for the Center for Oceanic Research and Education in Essex, Ma. He lives in West Newton, Massachusetts with his wife Toby (a fellow birder he met on a whale-watch) and daughter Dana.
Emmalee Tarry

Emmalee Tarry
Emmalee Bowers Tarry grew up in Louisville, Kentucky and lived in Indiana, Texas, Virginia, Pennsylvania, Hawaii, and Massachusetts before settling in Nashua, NH. She is a retired: teacher, computer programmer, and mother. Besides birding and being a grandmother, her hobbies include music, wild orchids, swimming, and photography.

Emmalee has a B.S. in Biology from the University of Louisville, and M.A. and MBA from Indiana University. She has traveled in Afghanistan, Africa, Central and South America, and Antarctica. Most recently she spent a week on Midway Atoll. In 2001 she retired and started an odyssey to see the world. The first year was spent in Australia and New Zealand, the second in Europe and the next two in North America. See Wandering Birder
