Sometimes rather than reading a whole chapter, what you want to do
is to find further information on a specific topic. Information may be found in
more than one chapter. For example, the species account of the White-faced
Storm-petrel has information and pictures of the bird, but you might also want
to read about pelagic trips where the bird has been seen or trips planned to
search for the bird.
Site Map
The site map is a single page which gives more information
about what is contained in each chapter, subchapter, and page of the web site.
Open this page from the small blue navigation bar at the top of every page. It
is a list of pages with their subpages in outline form. Click on any underlined
link to open that page.
As a little exercise to use the site map, find
the page on Ocean Sunfish. Open the Site
Map . Find Ocean Sunfish. Hint: Other Sea Animals. After you
read about Ocean Sunfish, return to this tutorial using the Help link
on the light blue bar.
Search What if you would like
learn more about a specific topic for example, sharks. The search function
allows you to find all the pages in New England Seabirds that mention sharks.
Use the Search link in the blue bar at the top of the
page to open the search form. Further instructions for searching are on this
page. Try it out by searching for gulls. Don't forget to use Help in the
top blue bar to return to the tutorial.
