Licensed for 150, but 120 recomended for birders on long trips. Excellent PA system with cordless microphone for trip leader. Full galley. Two restrooms. Heated cabin, comfortable seats and plenty of rail space. Plenty of free parking available.

Available for Charters Any day of the week in May, June, Septembers, and early October
July and August, we prefer chartering on weekdays (Monday being favored) due to the high whale watching demand on the weekends, but will do weekend days at extra cost.
For full day trips we prefer early departures - 8:00am - so we can do a dinner trip in the evenings, requiring us to be back in port by 6:00pm.

The people at Newburyport Whale Watch are very happy to accommodate birding groups, and are known for going out of their way take the dedicated birding trips to new levels. The food on these dedicated trips is the best.

Capt. Paul Hodgdon has a BA in Zoology from UNH, spent three summers at the Shoals Marine Lab off the NH-Maine coast, and seven years in Southeast Alaska as captain of small coastal cruise ships. He is interested in photography and is experienced at positioning the boat for nature study.

Boat Description Party fishing boat designed for extended, overnight trips. Sleeping accomodations for 48 persons in bunks of stretched canvas in heated and air conditioned lower cabin. One Shower and 2 heads on main deck. One bunk on main deck for person with limited mobility. Upper observation deck with benches. Inside cabin with seating for 22 people.

Cruises at 14 knots ( on trips longer than 150 miles cruise speed is 12 knots.)
